Open-shifts
How does an Open-shift work?
Open-shift jobs work as follows:
Scheduling Open-shifts
- Unlike a Fixed-shift, an Open-shift is added to the schedule without a start and finish time. Instead, you have a 'Days to complete' field that gives staff a set amount of days to complete the Open-shift
- Allocating the rates for an Open-shift
- A day rate will give the staff a flat rate per Open-shift
- An hourly rate will automatically create a total rate for the Open-shift based upon when the staff clock-in and clock-out.

Agency booking staff to an Open-shift
- You can book staff onto an Open-shift as normal via the Shifts page
- This will book them onto the date added to the schedule for this shift
- Staff have the option in their staffarea to select an attendance date
- This chosen attendance date will be shown on the attendance calendar tab
- Staff will then have the full date range allocated in 'Days to complete' to complete the shift
Staff booking themselves to an Open-shift
- You can allow staff to book themselves onto Open-shifts by first shortlisting staff to the job and shifts
- This shortlisting will give staff access to those Open-shifts in their staffarea
- Staff can then choose a date to book themselves onto that shift within the range of days available (Schedule date + Days to complete)
Attending the shift
- Staff can attend an Open-shift on any date within the range of days allocated (Schedule date + Days to complete)
- If staff book themselves onto an Open-shift they don't have to attend the shift on that day. They can still attend that Open-shift on any day within the range of days (Schedule date + Days to complete)
- Staff will Clock-in and Clock-out of the Open-shift,
- When they have to do this is dependent on the parameters set in the Job Overview.
