On Route

  1. What is en-route?
  2. Manually marking staff an en-route
  3. Automating the shift en-route process

What is en-route?

This gives staff the ability to let you know when they are possibly doing one of the following

  • Just got up and acknowledge they have a shift to attend today
  • Having a morning cup of tea and just about to leave to attend their shift
  • Leaving the house and making their way to the shift

Whilst it can't tell you if they have left on time or not, it does let you know that they are attending the shift.

Should you not see the En-route time stamp on the portal dashboard you can then chase the staff accordingly, therefore allowing you to know further in advance if staff are dropping out.

Manually marking staff an en-route

To manually mark staff as en route:

  • Go to your Dashboard and click on Options > En route next to the shift
  • The details of the en route will be shown in the shift status log as above
    • Time and date stamp of the en route shift status update

Automating the shift en-route process

To automate the shift en-route process to allow staff to let you now they are en route on the day of the shift

  • In the Job overview go to the Automatic Shift Reminders section
    • Add the total minutes before the shift start time to send the en-route reminder
    • Add the method of communication for the check-off reminders
  • Based on the above example the en-route process would be initiated 120 minutes before the shift
    • Staff will receive an email and an SMS. Example default SMS message
      • Staff can click the link in the SMS and email to confirm their attendance
    • An en-route button will appear next to the shift on the staffarea dashboard irrespective of whether you have or have not setup an en-route reminder for the job
  • Upon staff telling you the are en-route to their shift you will see this shift status update on the main portal dashboard
