What are Open Shifts?

Unlike Fixed Shifts, Open Shifts do not have the following attributes:

  • A single shift date
  • A start time
  • A finish time

Instead, Open Shifts have the following attributes:

  • Start date
  • Days to complete

This means that you have a range of days from a particular date to complete your shift.

Open Shifts can be used for jobs such as:

  • Audit & compliance calls
  • Mystery shops
  • Any task-based jobs

Viewing Open Shifts available to you

  • Go to Open Shifts in your Staffarea menu:
  • Here you will see the Open Shifts available to you grouped by Job:
    • Each location will tell you the:
      • Venue name
      • Postcode
      • Start date
      • The total number of days you have to complete the Open Shift
  • Use the Search parameters at the top of the page to potentially show more Open Shifts available to you

Booking yourself onto Open Shifts

  • Go to Open Shifts in your Staffarea menu
  • Here you will see the Open Shifts available to you
  • You can click a location to see the role, rate and address for that Open Shift
  • If you are happy to commit to this Open Shift you must click on BOOK SHIFT. 
    • Select the date from the date picker to tell your employer the date you are proposing to attend the Open Shift and press OK
      • You will only be allowed to select a date within the date range allowed
      • You do not have to attend the shift on this exact date you have selected, but you do need to attend within the given range of days
  • You will now be booked onto your chosen Open Shift
    • The blue banner will tell you
      • When you booked yourself onto this Open Shift
      • The date you have pre-selected to attend this Open Shift
  • You will also receive a booking confirmation email
    • Please click the link at the bottom of the email to confirm your booked shifts with your employer

Your employer has booked you onto an Open Shift

  • When your employer books you onto an Open Shift they will not pick at day for you to attend so your booked Open Shifts will look like this
  • Upon being booked onto an Open Shift by your employer you will receive an email to notify you of the booked
    • Click on the confirmation button at the end of the email to confirm your Open Shifts
  • When you attend your shift, click on See more > Clock in

Clocking in and out of your booked Open Shifts, viewing reports and adding expenses

​​​​​You can Clock in and Clock out of your upcoming booked Open Shifts via

  • Your Dashboard
    • Upon the arrival of the start date of the Open Shift here, you can easily Clock in and Clock out our your Open Shifts
  • Your Open Shifts page
    • Go to Open Shifts in your Staffarea menu
    • You will see how many Open Shifts you are booked on. Click this bar to expand to see each of these booked Open Shift
    • You will now see a list of each of your booked Open Shifts
    • Upon the arrival of the start date of the Open Shift, a SEE MY OPTIONS > button will appear next to that Open Shift and will remain for the duration of the time you have to complete.
    • Click on SEE MY OPTIONS 
      • Here you have the options to see or action
        • JOB DETAILS
          • Click to see the job details
        • CLOCK IN
          • To clock into your Open shifts
        • VIEW REPORTS
          • To see a list of reports associated with your job
    • You can thereby CLOCK IN when you attend your Open Shift on the day you chose within the given range of dates for that Open shifts,
      • For this example above you would need to Clock in between the 17th of November and the 7th of December (17 Nov + 30 days)
    • When your shift is finished you must CLOCK OUT
      • A new option will become available for you to ADD EXPENSES for shifts for this job only. See: Adding expenses
